Restricted use of palm oil from June 10

The EU will restrict the use of palm oil for biofuels from June 10, and it is likely to aggravate the dispute between the EU and Malaysian palm oil producing countries.

“Bloomberg” reported that the EU has published the above regulations in official journals, setting new standards for the use of palm oil in biofuels.

The new rule, which will take effect on the 10th of next month, will limit the type of biofuels blended with palm oil and introduce a certification system to meet the EU’s renewable energy targets.

The EU has passed the above regulations on March 13 and requires a two-month review, during which the European Parliament and member states did not express objections.
