oils, obtained by refining of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.htoilmachine.com\/pro\/oil-extraction-c-2\/\">oil extracted<\/a> from the olive pomace.<br \/>\nThe purpose of processing the remaining pulp from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.htoilmachine.com\/pro\/hpyl-200-olive-oil-press-machine-proid-204.html\">olive oil<\/a> production is to produce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.htoilmachine.com\">edible oil<\/a>.<br \/>\nOlive pomace should be delivered immediately to the extraction factory (on the same day it is produced) for drying in order to avoid any increases in acidity in the olive-pomace oil.<br \/>\nAfter drying, pomace extracted by hexane to yield raw olive-pomace oil<br \/>\nRaw olive-pomace oil must be refined to become edible.<br \/>\nThe edible product sold as olive-pomace oil is refined olive-pomace oil<\/p>\n<p><strong>PROCESS STEPS<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n1)DRYING THE POMACE<br \/>\n2)EXTRACTION<br \/>\n3)DISTILLATION<br \/>\n4)REFINING<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>FLOWCHART<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>DRYING<\/strong><br \/>\nHalt the fermentation of the pomace.<br \/>\nCarried out by blowing hot air over the pomace in a drum screen.<br \/>\nLower the moisture content to around 5-6%<br \/>\nThe hot drying gases are used at high<br \/>\ntemperatures (400\u00b0C to 700\u00b0C).<br \/>\nFinal temperature of finished product not more than 70\u201380 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EXTRACTION<\/strong><br \/>\nPreparation of the fatty pulp<br \/>\nExtraction with hexane<br \/>\nDesolventizing of the extracted pulp<br \/>\nTypes of Extractors<br \/>\nBatch Extractor<br \/>\nPulp placed in an upright reactor<br \/>\nand sprayed with the hexane.<br \/>\nCommonly used for extraction.<br \/>\nContinuous Extractor<br \/>\nPulp washed with hexane.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTILLATION<\/strong><br \/>\nDistillation of the oil-hexane mixture (miscella) in a distiller.<br \/>\nTry to remove the hexane from the oil as soon as possible at a temperature of around 100\u2013110 oC.<br \/>\nThe finished product to be lower than 150 ppm of hexane in oil.<br \/>\nWHY DOES IT NEED REFINING ?<br \/>\nBecause ;<br \/>\nThe crude pomace oil obtained is a high acidity (more than 3% as oleic acid)<br \/>\nDark green oil (high chlorophyll content)<br \/>\nHigh waxes content<br \/>\nUnpleasant odor and taste.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REFINING<\/strong><br \/>\nDegumming<br \/>\nNeutralization<br \/>\nBleaching<br \/>\nWinterization<br \/>\nDeodorization<br \/>\nDEGUMMING<br \/>\nAchieved by hydrating the gums using 0.1% concentrated phosphoric acid<br \/>\nReduction of phospholipid content.<br \/>\nPrecipitation with acids.<br \/>\nTo remove precipitate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NEUTRALIZATION<\/strong><br \/>\nThe crude pomace oil obtained is a high acidity (more than 3% as oleic acid)<br \/>\nRemoves nearly all free-fatty acid by converting them into oil-insoluble soaps.<br \/>\nThe oil-insoluble soaps are separated by centrifuge in the batch neutralizers.<br \/>\nChemical reaction with caustic soda.<br \/>\nCaustic soda + Acid Soap + Water<\/p>\n<p><strong>BLEACHING<\/strong><br \/>\nRemove the unpleasant colors of the alkali neutralized pomace oil<br \/>\nThe oil is heated to 100\u2103.<br \/>\nStirred with the bleaching earth for 30 min under a vacuum (30-40 mmHg)<br \/>\nBleached oil removed from the activated earth and charcoal by filtration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WINTERIZATION<\/strong><br \/>\nThe elimination of any compound that might cause the final product to appear cloudy<br \/>\nRemoves waxes and high melting triacylglycerols.<br \/>\nThe process is based on crystallization (5\u20138 \u2103).<br \/>\nIncrease the size of crystals.<br \/>\nThe crystals are separated with filtration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEODORIZATION<\/strong><br \/>\nFinal treatment step in the refining process.<br \/>\nTreatment of undesirable odours.<br \/>\n150 \u2103 to 260 \u2103.<br \/>\nSteam is
